ARMED AND READY FOR SUMMER

Dermalogica Solar Defense ARMED AND READY FOR SUMMER

This past week, we attended Dermalogica’s SPF Talk with  Annet King, Director of Global Education for the International Dermal Institute and Dermalogica.  We were very excited to hear about all of the updated  FDA rules regarding skin care products, and to test out what’s new for this summer. And of course, we LOVE chatting with Annet.  She is our direct line to all things pertaining to skin care.

We got to take home new products, and I immediately started using the updated Solar Defense Booster ($48), newly formulated with SPF 50, the next day.  Let me tell you, this product came just in the nick of time because I was all out of my Sheer Moisture, and needed a daily SPF, stat!  What I love most about this is that it’s made to boost your moisturizer.  So you don’t have to keep up with two different ones – making my routine a lot simpler.   All I need is equal parts Solar Defense and Active Moist, and I’m good to go.

I love that it’s a higher SPF, and I can wear this by itself when I’m spending extended amounts of time in the sun.  It’s just a really great product that travels well (due to it’s convenient size) and provides maximum protection to keep premature aging to a minimum.  All Dermalogica SPFs will now include both Vitamin E and C capsules.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Carthamus Tintorius (Safflower) Oleosomes, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Polysorbate 80, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Dimethyl Capramide, Nylon-12, Centella Asiatica Extract, Echinacea Purpurea Extract, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Melissa Officialis Lead Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Lecithin, Tocopherol, Allantoin, Hydroxyethayl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Sorbitan Sesquicaprylate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Carbomer, Sodium DNA, Polysorbate 60, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Benzoate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Titanium Dioxide (Cl77891).

Pros: Makes my Active Moist matte for day; lightweight; can be mixed w/any moisturizer; good for all skin types; blends well; no artificial fragrances and colors
Cons: Absolutely nada

ULTA Deal: (5/27 – 6/23) $15 Off $75 with FREE Shipping Code: AF512. Exclusions Apply ARMED AND READY FOR SUMMER

Also check out some of notes from our SPF lesson!

  • FDA has ruled that brands are no longer allowed to use the word “sunblock,” “sweat proof,”  or “sun proof”
  • FDA  requires every sunscreen to have broad spectrum (UVA & UVB protection)
  • 80-90% of aging is from sun exposure, and it can take up to 10 years for the damage to rear its ugly head
  • FDA requires brands to have all drug facts labeled
  • Always reapply sunscreen after 2 hours of direct sun exposure  - shot glass worth on the body, and a teaspoon’s worth on the face.

Tip: Get a Dermalogica free Face Mapping session every season, because things can change a lot for us girls.  This will keep your skin looking its best year round.
