Enter Microsoft’s well-designed & features-packed Surface RT. It’s surprisingly easy to use and comes loaded with goodies.

Instead of the usual screen of apps & images you’ll find on most tablets & computers, Windows 8 is a portal for information.  Though not quite as intuitive as Apples offerings, with live personalized widgets, Windows 8 serves up more goodies and customization than its brethren.

The compact keyboard manages to squeeze in a mouse pad & clickers, yet remains incredibly user-friendly.  I had concerns the keyboard would be somewhat of a work around. In fact, it’s quite accurate & easy to navigate.

Surface packs a snappy quad-core processor, complete Microsoft Office, HD webcam up front, second HD camera on back, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 port, 16 or 32gb of storage, plus a micro SD card slot.

It’s relatively lightweight, has a small footprint & the swappable Touch Cover  (aka cover/keyboard) comes in a rainbow of colors, and kickstand. Everything is built-in, which means less $$ to numerous accessories.

With the functionality of a laptop & size of a tablet, Surface is the perfect travel companion.  My iPad mini is for play,  and this is used to do the real nitty gritty stuff while I travel.  Definitely worth a look if you’re in the market for a tablet or small laptop.  The price is comparable to an iPad, but gives you all the features of an actual PC.  Plus, the Rebecca Minkoff Sleeves alone are a nice incentive.  I LOVE mine.

Pros: Easy set-up;  full on Microsoft Office; Windows 8; HD everything and doesn’t require a ton of additional accessories; works as a small laptop for traveling; perfect size for watching HD movies
Cons: Not as an intuitive as Apple products;  I wish there were more apps in the Windows store.  We were told this is coming, but let’s get this party started already!

…because my suit is the party! I  kid.  Well, not really.  A couple of Fridays ago, we had a chance to leave the office early, and instead of getting a manicure as planned, I went straight for my pool.  It was just too nice of a day AND I knew it would take so long to have my talons removed.  It just seemed like the perfect plan after a long week.  The first bikini I grabbed from my drawer was Bikini Lab’s Sorry For Party Blocking bandeau top and hot pants.

First of all, I love the name.  Secondly, the colors are perfect and I’m a sucker for good color-blocking.  This bikini is statement making and a great design for the price.  Bikini Lab suits are known for “bringing it” with unique styles, but at a much lesser price point than their counterparts.  The straps in the back add more sex appeal, and having the halter strap for additional support is a must for me.  I have a big cup size and a really small band size, which makes bandeaus almost impossible for me to wear unless a halter strap is present.  Boob slippage is not cute.  I chose the size medium so it wouldn’t be too big, however it’s a little loose at the bottom, which is probably due to the three back straps.  Most women shouldn’t have a problem with this top, but I suggest going in-store to try it on.

Pros: Great design for the price; beautiful colors; stands out at a pool party
Cons:  The material is a little thin, and loose at the bottom of the bandeau top

You’re probably wondering what a Prize Candle is.  So was I when I first heard about it! A friend of ours told us about this new company called Prize Candles and that we should review it.  When I found out the prize is jewelry, I told them to send me one.  Even if I didn’t like the jewelry I, at the very least, would have a new candle. Right?

When I opened the package I wasn’t expecting the Prize Candle to be so big!  The soy candle stands tall at 21 oz. There is a hidden prize in every candle.  I love that the candles come in different fragrances and, get this, each prize varies in value from $10 – $5,000; and all Prize Candles are the same price at $27.99!

The directions say to burn the candle and when the prize pouch becomes visible, blow the candle out, wait for the wax to cool, and then remove the pouch with tweezers.  To be honest, I didn’t wait for the wax to cool.  I didn’t use tweezers, I used a fork.  I was way too excited to see what my prize was to follow any rules!  Next, I went to PrizeCandle.com and clicked appraise.  I entered the code that came in the prize pouch with the ring.  Sadly, I found out my ring was only worth $10 (picture above).  I still think this makes for an awesome bridal shower or baby shower party gift.  Don’t you?

When it comes to laser hair removal, there are many myths and urban legends.  With skin-bearing days ahead of us, now is the time to separate fact from fiction.  We asked Dr. Derek Jones of Skin Care and Laser, Physicans of Beverly Hills, to help dispel the top five laser hair removal myths.

Myth One – Laser Hair Removal is a Painful Exercise
Truth – While there is some discomfort or tingling with the procedure, the pain experienced with laser hair removal is significantly less than that experienced with electrolysis or waxing. The skin could get pink following the treatment but that will happen with any sort of hair removal you do.

Myth Two – It isn’t Permanent
Truth – Following each treatment the hair is going to become finer and fewer. Every treatment, some hair follicles are going to be eliminated and the hair won’t regrow. Eventually over time all of them will be removed. So on a single instance, no, laser hair removal isn’t permanent but over time it will be.

Myth Three: Laser hair removal is more expensive than other hair removal methods
Truth: Again this is a yes/no thing but you need to compare apples with apples. A single laser hair removal treatment will be more expensive than other treatments but in the long run this definitely isn’t the case. This is as you will need fewer treatments to achieve the same results. Due to it being permanent, you won’t have to get any more treatments as opposed to having to always wax.

Myth Four: It is dangerous
Truth: You are dealing with a laser and obviously one has to be careful when dealing with a device such as this. But in terms of side-affects results from the laser, this isn’t the case. Your surrounding skins cells are going to be unharmed from the laser. There are no issues in terms of radiation.

Myth Five: Laser hair removal is the same for all types of hair
Truth: Things are going to be different for each person. The laser identifies the pigment and so there are problems with lighter colored hair such as blonde, white, red and gray hair. Those with light skin and dark, coarse hair are actually the best candidates for the laser hair removal treatment.

I remember when the sneaker wedge trend first came out.  Jenn and I were in Gregory’s on Robertson and I picked up a pair of navy blue Ash sneaker wedges.  Jenn goes, “Mmmm I don’t know if that trend is going to last…”  Then almost a year later she has a pair.  I wasn’t sure if the sneaker wedge was right for me until I saw how convenient and versatile they are.  I mean, we don’t always want to reach for flat sandals or loafers on a casual day.    After scouring the internet I found a pair from Aldo, and they were nice enough to send me the Numata sneaker.

At first I thought I wanted a sneaker with a little gold hardware.  But on second thought I’m happy I didn’t.  I love the brown sole because it won’t get as dirty as white.  I also love the patent leather trim because it adds texture and dimension.  And the Velcro straps trump lace ups.  The Numata’s ($80) are so comfy I can wear them all day.

I prefer to wear them with denim shorts or colored denim.  This style compliments an outfit without being obnoxious – loud, unnecessary spikes and studs all over.  Now I love spikes and studs, but sometimes it goes to far.  And the Aldo Numatas are just perfect!
