I’M BLUSHING!

6 October 2011

The latest in quick and convenient yet luxurious beauty treatments is set to open tomorrow (October 7) in Sunset Plaza, right next to Drybar. Blushington is a makeup and beauty lounge where patrons can get made up in less than 45 minutes for just $35.

But Blushington is so wonderful that you might not want to leave! Beautifully appointed in coral and white, Blushington features multiple makeup rooms and vanity stations that are every girl’s dream, stocked with makeup from Stila, BECCA, Kevin Aucoin and others. In addition to their beauty services, which also include lash extensions, tinting, false eyelash application and more, Blushington will also offer makeup classes where you can bring your own makeup and learn how to use it, which I think is just genius.

Upon arrival at Blushington, I was offered a drink as I sat in their posh waiting area. Within minutes, makeup artist Jessica (who wore one of Blushington’s adorable signature blush bows in her top knot) introduced herself and walked me to her station. She presented me with several looks to choose from by laying out framed photos of Emma Willis, Director of Artistry and Relations, made up with each one. I chose “Smoke and Mirrors,” which as you might guess, consisted of dark smoky eyes and some nighttime shimmer. Jessica explained each technique as she worked through my makeup application, asking for my opinion at each stage. She even offered me a cat eye tutorial since it’s a look I have trouble mastering on my own. The completed look was smoking hot, and as the finale, Jessica demoed perhaps my favorite feature: the adjustable lighting at each makeup station that allows you to view your new look in both daytime and evening lighting.

Overall, my experience at Blushington was a dream and a welcome alternative to the department beauty store counters where products are pushed on you and you never quite know what you’re going to look like when you leave. For your next big night out or special occasion, it’s a no brainer to head there to be made up into your more glamorous self.
