I am always oohing and ahhing over the many cool ombre nail color combos that grace the beauty boards of Pinterest, but unfortunately attempting to do that myself is just plain silly.  How do I know this? Because after excitedly receiving the newly released limited edition Sheer Nail Lacquer ($6) from American Apparel, I decided to put fear aside and get to DIY-ing.  I even used the How-to video here that American Apparel provided.  And it was still a hot ass mess.

All of this really does not matter – the color and quality still rocks.  Despite the frosted bottle, it actually provides long-lasting shine (better than OPI).  I sported  Manhattan Beach (coral) for five days; and it even held up during my trip to Miami, except for the last two days.  Then of course the chipping began.  Don’t be fooled by the name “Sheer”.  You still get quite a bit of coverage and vibrant color.  All in all, it holds up really well and it allows you to rock a toned down version of your favorite boldest color.

And if you are a pro at creating ombre nails, these sheer polishes are actually perfect for it.
